Eye Appointments Update!

I know it's been awhile.  Summers are crazy busy around here and we just came off a great week of Backyard Bible Clubs with the students.  We're exhausted but it was really really good.
In the midst of the craziness, we've had 3 eye appointments in 6 days.  All 3 of my guys had an appointment and they're all doing super well.  We're so thankful.

Carson sat SO still to have his pressures checked today.  We've learned the secret to eye doctor visits with babies:  A hungry baby and a full bottle. :)  She was able to get a good look at his eyes and check his pressures.  He's still glaucoma free and we don't have to go back for 6 months. (yay!)

Kyler is still off drops and his eyes are super stable.  He's so good at his appointments too.  Actually I think the eye dr appointment might be the most still you'll ever see him.  He's looking great and the doctor said there are no promises and glaucoma is super unpredictable, but theoretically his pressures could be stable for a long long time. (Praise God! and keep those prayers coming)

Conor is off drops in his one eye and the doctor is super impressed with how well it's healing.  His eye looks so much better than it did 6 months ago - no more irritation and pain.  He's really doing great, and can see better than he did before the surgery.  We just bought him some really cool rec specs so he can start playing sports again soon.  (I'm sure you can imagine how thrilled he is about wearing them, but it's just too risky to go without them)

And just so as not to leave her out: Darby had her 4 yr old appointment a little while back and has finally past 30 pounds haha!  She's such a petite little thing.  She still misses her old friends and talks about them often.  The other day she said, "Mom, Austin is almost perfect."  "Almost perfect?"  I asked.  "I just miss my old friends.  If I could see them it would be perfect."  Ugh break a momma's heart.

Praise God for good reports for all 3 of my guys!

Birthday Boy!

He had a great day! 
We had a party on Saturday and kept it small and simple.  We just included a few families our kids play with regularly, the grandparents, and one aunt & uncle that were in from out of town.

And a store-bought cake from Target.  I have finally admitted to myself that I am just not a baker and that's ok. :)  There's much less stress in our house when we order the cake and the kids LOVE flipping through the book at the bakery counter and picking the perfect cake. Win-Win. ;)

I can't believe he's one.  This year has flown by.

He is such a blessing to us.  His laugh is contagious and we hear it often.  He loves to be with his older siblings and they love him back.  I love to hear them cheer him on every time he does something new.  He's walking more and more but is such a fast crawler, he often drops to all fours when he's in a hurry.  (like when he's chasing the older two)  He loves to build towers and be outside and when he's upset, not matter the cause, he is quickly calmed just by being held by mommy or daddy.

Carson Paul, you are such a gift from God.  We love you our little red-headed man!

Memorial Day

After a month filled with surgeries and doctors appointments.

We feel so blessed and thankful.

Surgery Updates:
Kyler is doing great!  Stitches are out and his incisions are healing nicely.  He was able to come off eyedrops completely for now and we go back in a month to make sure his pressures are stable off meds.  Praising God for a break from those meds we've been doing twice a day since he was 4 months old.

Conor's eye is healing well from the micro-shunt they put in.  We're praising the Lord the doctor was able to get it in at all so the fact that it's doing so well is huge!  The pressure in his eye is way too low still(it's at a 2), which is just a side effect of the new shunt and it should level out  BUT until it does, he's not allowed to bend over or lean forward at all or lift anything over 10 pounds...which means no lifting kids.  Ha! Also low pressure makes your vision pretty blurry so he's not able to drive (obviously) until it clears.  He's taking it easy and since he can't work on the pools right now, we're enjoying having him around an extra 30 hours a week or so. 

We're also taking a trip to Houston once a week for his follow-ups right now and we're SO glad to have Nana & Papa and Gram & Pappy around to love on the kids while we're out of town.


Specifically, if you could pray his pressure safely increases over the next week or so.  We'd like to see it be at least a 6 by next Friday!  And if you could pray for extra stamina and discipline for me over the next couple weeks, I'd sure appreciate it.


Thankful we're not walking this road alone!
